PHORCYS — pronounced "FORE-sees" — is designed to answer that question and save those lives.
100,000+people died at home of preventable causes in 2024, according to the National Safety Council.
Almost all of these people died because they were alone and no one knew what was happening.
If your friend or family is dying with no one present, PHORCYS is designed to alert you so you can send help.
PHORCYS consists of "nodes" you plug into an outlet that use WiFi signals to scan the room, detect, and send an email if something seems wrong. No cameras, no smartwatches, no pendants, no microphones. Privacy and safety.
I want to save lives, remove fear & doubt, and help make the world a safer place.
No one should have to worry or wonder, "Are they okay?" or "What if someone had gotten there in time?"
PHORCYS may very well be the solution to those terrible questions.

The housings have been 3D printed, circuit board firmware designed and flashed, software coded and debugged. The AI agent (Perseus) has been customized and instructed. The hardware has been programmed, printed, assembled and tested. The local hub interface is running. The end-to-end alert workflow has been demonstrated under test and simulated critical conditions.
PHORCYS has worked during my personal testing (with myself as the room occupant, vitals checked against an Android smartwatch).
This is a real technology that needs clinical validation, refinements to make perfect (higher accuracy readings, reliability across challenging building layouts, redundant/battery back-up power, and anything necessary to make this a fool-proof solution).
Federal approval is the final hurdle to saving lives. I don't just want to do this fast. I want to do this right. Lives are in the balance. Too fast and maybe the system fails in a lightning storm. Too slow and people that could have been rescued by paramedics aren't discovered until it's too late.

Working Prototype Demo W/Founder Story
The video below is my initial prototype demonstration, with a focus on detecting drug overdoses. I will be posting a new video soon, to clarify that the tech is designed to detect and announce any medical emergency indicated by changes in heart rate, respiratory rate (breaths per minute), and bodily pose or stillness. Drug overdoses are a specific tragedy that has affected my life, but I want to save as many people from as many potential causes of death as possible.

The prototype alert shown here was generated from a simulated critical condition. The next stage is improving the hardware, testing reliability, refining the detection process and preparing for responsible real-world evaluation.
